Uploading to YouTube

The recommended method for finishing this project is to upload your finished video to YouTube, because YouTube creates subtitles quickly and easily. Creating subtitles really helps those who may miss lyrics (pronunciation issues & speed of delivery can cause problems for listeners, not to mention visitors who may need subtitles because of a disability).

  1. Log into your YouTube account, and if you don’t have one (and you’re at least 13 years old), create one.
  2. Click on the video camera icon in the top right and choose “Upload Video.”
Upload your saved video to YouTube.

3. Go through the uploading process. Make sure you choose “Safe for Children” and choose the level of privacy you’d like for your video. If you’re shy or embarrassed, choose “Unlisted,” since only those with the link will be able to view your video. When you get to the screen that asks for subtitles, click “Add.”

Once you’ve clicked “Add,” you’ll see a screen where you can enter your lyrics. Choose “Upload” or “Manual.” You can also try “Auto-sync.” You can paste the lyrics there, too, and YouTube often matches the words up well.
