Narrative Writing

What you’re learning: How to analyze narratives and how to write them. [RL1, 2, 3, W3]

How you’ll learn it?

  1. You’ll be reading several short stories (narratives), and you’ll be analyzing them – examining their settings, pacing, characters & themes.
  2. Then, you’ll be writing your own narrative, demonstrating that you can not only explain characters, plot structure, conflict, and theme in someone else’s story, but that you can also create a compelling story on your own.

To take this course

  1. Click “Enroll” by clicking the button in the top right of this page.
  2. Start by clicking on “Narrative Structure” below. Once you do, you’ll automatically begin the course and should be moved through the different lessons and topics in an orderly fashion. If you get stuck somewhere, come back to this start page and check your progress by seeing if the lessons are checked off with blue check marks on the left. IF there’s not a blue check mark, you’re not finished with that lesson.

Good Luck! I’ll be grading your written submissions personally. I look forward to seeing you grow in your understanding AND in your writing.
